TRANSPORT

"We believe that the Local Board should work towards developing a cycleway-walkway system to promote public involvement in the area as well as encouraging safe cycling to and from the local schools and centres to encourage both a healthy lifestyle and, importantly, a reduction in car traffic flow around and near the local schools."

"We believe that the Local Board must work with the local communities to develop effective lobby of the Auckland Council and ATEED to fund such developments."

LOCAL HERITAGE

"We believe that the historic buildings scattered around Howick should be preserved, adequately funded or resourced and their use encouraged."

"We believe that the local board should be working to encourage locals as well as visitors to learn about and use the heritage sites."

 

"We think that by promoting safe heritage cycling and walking trails linking the identified historic sites across the Ward a greater public awareness and attention to the need to preserve our shared history would be encouraged."

COMMUNITY FACILITIES

"We believe that the Local Board should work towards obtaining and creating a stand alone Botany Community Centre that can cater for the different requirements of the ethnic and local interest groups of any age and events in the sub-division."

"The Local Board should actively work to establishing  Botany Community Rooms / Hall and promote the establishment of development, self help, immigrant assistance programmes in Botany."

PUBLIC SAFETY

"We would work with the council and police to promote better street lighting and signage and the setting up of neighbourhood support programmes. We would also work with the local community patrol group to provide support for safer communities."

COMMUNITY SERVICE

"We believe that the Local Board should provide for community services that will benefit the well-being and lifestyle of the senior citizens and those with disabilities across the community. This could include regular sponsored activities, a free circuit Howick rider service to transport senior citizens to the activities. Co-oridination with local service groups providing activities and connection for senior citizens."
